Dom Prosper Guéranger composed his Liturgical Institutions (1840-41) with the intention of restoring greater knowledge and love for the Roman Rite among priests suffering the growing impact of the Enlightenment rationalist philosophy of his time. In this work, he outlines and describes what he termed the "anti-liturgical heresy" - a summary of doctrinal and liturgical approaches observable in the history of Protestantism.

In light of the unprecedented liturgical changes that occurred over a century later following the Second Vatican Council, his thought makes for intriguing reading. It is here reproduced in English on a two-sided PDF handout, with linkage to the original.
